Abuse Prevention Awareness at  
 Ft. Lauderdale Adventist Church    


“Abuse Prevention Awareness” was the theme for a special family life seminar sponsored by the Ft. Lauderdale Seventh-day Adventist Church, August 23, 2014. Mr. Ron Osborne-Williams, Education & Prevention Manager, Women in Distress of Broward County, Inc. was the featured presenter. 

Mr. Osborne-Williams’ “Domestic Violence Training Seminar”   resonated with the diverse audience. The following subtopics were covered:

What are the Signs?
Bystander Accountability
Avoid Victim Blaming
Know Your Limits

Outreach Services
Education and Prevention.   

More importantly, at the culmination of his power point presentation, he entertained questions. Simply put, he spoke from the heart and cited many practical experiences and illustrations to make his point.

Otherwise, the day commenced with a powerful sermon delivered by Elder Ludlow Bartley, Sr. In short, his message provided hope for the abused as well as the abuser. Likewise, Sis. Maria Hibbert gave a lecture entitled “Abuse & Teenagers.”  Meanwhile, Elder Fay Reynolds presented the vesper thought to close the day.   Sis. Heather Bartley, Family Life Ministries Director, Ft. Lauderdale Seventh-day Adventist Church, coordinated the program.
